Islam is essentially a very simple faith. Muslims believe in one God and that Muhammad is the final prophet of God. The Quran is the Muslim holy book, consisting of 116 chapters. It is written in Arabic and is considered the word of God.
The faith is built upon five essential duties, known as the "Pillars of Islam."
The Five Pillars of Islam

In addition to the five pillars, Muslims also
- do not eat pork or drink alcohol
- prohibit gambling
- believe that food needs to be prepared certain ways. Food that is lawful and permitted is called "halal." This is much like the idea of "kosher" in the Jewish faith
- believe in a final day of judgement. This is a prominent belief in the Christian faith as well.
